MOUNT OITI
Mount Oiti is one of the highest mountains in Central Greece (2.152 m), hosting a pristine environment of fir forests, a vast diversity of plant species, rich fauna, abundant waters and beautiful gorges.
The “Hercules mountain” has been inhabited since the ancient times as demonstrated by the ancient temple honouring the mythical hero and the neighbouring monuments in the region, especially Delphi.
In more recent years, the area became better known thanks to the contribution of its inhabitants to the Greek Revolution and the Resistance during the Second World War. Many monuments bear witness to this history as demostrated by the newly-inaugurated Trail of the National Resistance.
Despite its overwhelming nature and history, the mountain remains well preserved and untouched. Explore the undiscovered trails of Oiti!
