COMPETITION REGULATIONS
 
1. DECLARATION OF COMPLIANCE
1.1 The declaration of participation in the competitions requires full acceptance of the 24 conditions as well as their sub-categories
1.2 Athletes who will compete should understand that they are moving in mountainous and difficult terrain with all that entails. Also, they are exposed to the weather conditions that will prevail on the specific day of the match. Especially on the descent paths, special care is required to avoid falls
2. PARTICIPATION
2.1. Male and female athletes of any age are accepted. A necessary condition is the use of a mountain bike (e.g. city bikes are not accepted) and the use of a helmet certified for cycling
2.2. Under the age of 18, a responsible declaration of the guardian is required. Children up to 12 years old take part in the children's race. In the race of 28 km. children from 13 years old also take part. For all other routes, participants must be at least 18 years of age.
2.3. Participation, which has been financially settled, is considered valid.
2.4. The cost of participation is:

  • €40 for participation in the 58 km

  • €30 for participation in the 28 km

  • €20 for participation in the 18 km

  • Participation in the children's race is free

2.4.1. This includes:

  • participation throughout the entire two-day competition, in accordance with the regulations.

  • electronic race timing

  • participation in the Pasta Party,

  • supply at the Fuel Stations

  • Technical t-shirt with the race logo

  • Commemorative finishing medal

  • Camping possibility: camping site at Stavros, 500 meters from the entrance to the village of Mavrolithari

2.4.2 In order to validate the participation, the amount must be paid as per the instructions in the registration page 
2.4.3. It is necessary to write the NAME of each athlete who will take part separately in the COMMENTS field in the register.
2.4.4 ATTENTION!!! Any bank charges are borne exclusively by the depositor. Deposits with an amount less than the participation fee will not be considered valid and this amount will be forfeited in favor of the organization.
2.5 There is the possibility of group registration with a discount, for groups of athletes over ten (10) people. Please get directly in contact with the Organizing Authority.
2.6. Timing will be done electronically. (The children's race is excluded)
2.7. An athlete who declares participation and does not come to the match or decides to cancel/postpone his participation, is not entitled to a refund.
 3. CATEGORIES
3.1. The award categories for the 58km race are:

  • A1. 18-39 years old

  • A2.  40-55 years old

  • A3.  55+ years old

  • A4.  e-bikes

3.2 The categories for women in the 58km race are as follows:

  • C1. 18-39 years old

  • C2. 40+

  • C3. e-bikes

Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers in all categories.
3.3 The remaining races will have 4 categories:

  • Conventional bikes, adults

  • Conventional bikes, minors

  • e-bikes, adults

  • e-bikes, minors

In each of the above the first three men and the first three women will be awarded.
3.5. A category will exist if 6 athletes are registered.
3.6 e-BIKE TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
• Only bikes with assistance are allowed to participate and the only power source is the battery on the bike, the rider is not allowed to carry an extra battery in the race.
• The mileage limit of the assistance is 25KM/H.
• The race committee will check the technical specifications of the bikes
4. COMPETITION DATES:
4.1. Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July 2024
5. COMPETITION ROUTES:
5.1. They are precisely described on the organization's website in the category "MATCH" which is an integral part of these regulations.
6. COMPLIANCE:
6.1. Athletes are obliged to fully respect the regulations described below. They are also obliged to obey the instructions of the match judges. Failure to comply with the regulations or instructions always incurs the penalty of disqualification. The judges of the match, when they perceive violations of the regulations, record them and inform the violators. Any other authorized person from the organization has the possibility to also record any violation that comes to his attention and submit it for examination to the Competition Committee.
7. ROUTE MARKINGS:
7.1. The route is heavily marked with project tape (red and white) and will be marked with biodegradable fluorescent spray, which fades in a few days.
7.2. The marking of the route placed by the organization is temporary, with the aim of serving the athletes and is removed after the race. These are mainly direction signs of the route, as well as deterrents in the event of a wrong route.
7.3. At key points of the route and in the event that the above material means are deemed insufficient, there will be volunteers who will guide the athletes.
8. SECURITY
8.1. Athletes participate at their own risk and the organizing authority is not responsible in case of injury, as explicitly stated in the disclaimer. Nevertheless, specialized medical personnel and a fully equipped ambulance will be on hand at selected strategic points. There will also be rescue teams covering the race.
8.2. The athletes must have been examined by a doctor, who will have deemed them fit to participate in the specific competition. The medical opinion must not be older than 30 days from the day of the match.
9. TIME LIMITS:
9.1. Only for the Marathon is there a valid finish time limit of 9:30. Intermediate blocking points:

The exclusion points were set for the safety of the athletes themselves and for the orderly conduct of the race. Athletes who fail to pass through these points in the time indicated are considered invalid and may continue the race only at their own risk and after handing over their number to the judges at the station. The exclusion limit is common for all categories of athletes, regardless of gender and age. After completing the mentioned time, the person in charge of the station continues to register the athletes but as overdue, and the athletes who arrive there, have an obligation to hand in their number. Athletes who wish can continue the route outside of the competition and at their own risk, having in any case first handed in their number. Finally, for a finish to be considered normal, it should be done by 9:30 exactly, for both men and women, of all categories. Those athletes who finish late, in a time longer than 9:30 hours, are considered to have validly reached the last exclusion point and will be presented in the official results as "late finishers".
10. ATHLETE NUMBER:
10.1. Each athlete carries the race number (bib) on him, which he is obliged to have in a visible place on the front of his bicycle. The number must remain throughout the race without being folded, thus hiding any element written on the number (sponsors, logos, etc.). Substantial alteration of the number, which may cause confusion to the Station registrars, is punishable by disqualification. Losing the number is punishable by ban.
11. EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE:
11.1. Any external assistance to the athletes, from anyone, is not allowed. Athletes are not allowed to be accompanied by persons who do not have a race number. Accompanying the athlete by familiar persons in the last meters of the route is allowed.
12. AUXILIARY MEDIA:
12.1. Possession and use of a map, compass, GPS, mobile phone or radio (VHF) is permitted.
13. WASTE:
13.1. The race takes place in mountainous terrain and therefore in a sensitive ecosystem. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to discard any kind of objects along the route, such as plastic bottles or any other packaging material of solid or liquid food, which the athletes consume during the race. At each feeding station there is a special plastic waste bag. All athletes are required to throw waste into the bag. Discarding packaging materials or other non-organic waste at any point of the route beyond the predetermined ones, incurs a disqualification penalty.
14. TRAFFIC ON THE PATH: 
14.1. Athletes are obliged to move on the path prudently and without obstructing the athletes they would like to overtake. When an athlete is notified that they must edge to pass they must remain on the inside of the slope.
15. SUPPLY STATIONS:
15.1. The organizing authority undertakes the feeding of the athletes during the competitions, supporting them at five (5) intermediate points along the route. Smaller races have fewer feed stations. The race has three (3) 28 km. The 18km race has a power station.
16. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT, BACKPACKS:
16.1. There is no mandatory equipment for the athletes. However, it is recommended that they carry a small backpack or waist pack, with some basic supplies such as glasses, a hat, a bag or a bag with a wide mouth, solid food of their choice, to cover their needs between stations. Each athlete is now responsible for choosing the container (cup, container, bag, bottle, pagouri, etc.), which he must bring, so that he can receive the right amount of liquids. Liquid quantities will be offered with a practical dispenser by Station staff. For speed, athletes should have containers with a wide mouth, for quick filling. Athletes are responsible for carrying one or two containers to receive water and isotonic separately. Each athlete will be able to take ONLY one gel, at the Stations where this will be offered. Carrying hydration packs or backpacks or waist packs in general is allowed. Abandoning a backpack along the route at the central stations is the athlete's responsibility.
ATTENTION: The organization does not provide glasses or bottles for ecological reasons.
17. CHECKPOINTS:
17.1. The Control Points of the match are a total of 8 (eight). All 5 (five) Fuel Stations are also Control Points. There are also two extra S.EL. The athletes are obliged to have their number in a visible place, so that the judges can record them. In the event that an athlete wears a windproof jacket, he must show his number when arriving at the Control Station. Refusal to display the number means disqualification. Any athlete who does not pass even one Control station is considered invalid.
18. OBJECTIONS:
18.1. Objections for any reason are made only by the athlete himself, no later than 30 minutes after his termination.
19. SECURITY:
19.1. The Committee undertakes to supervise the course of the race with specialized personnel in matters of safety, rescue and providing medical assistance to the athletes who will be in need. In cases where safety personnel and judges indicate to athletes that they must change direction for safety reasons, athletes are obliged to obey. Refusal to comply means disqualification.
20. MODIFICATION OF ROUTE / POSTPONEMENT :
20.1. If necessary (extremely dangerous weather conditions), the Organizers reserve the right to modify the route or postpone the start for a short period of time, in order not to endanger the physical integrity of the athletes. Under no circumstances will the race be cancelled, regardless of how extreme the weather conditions are in the area.
21. RESULTS:
21.1. The official (final) results of the match are published several days after the match, in order to cross-check the data and do the necessary checking.
22. PENALTIES:
22.1. The only penalty for all misdemeanors & rule violations is disqualification/expulsion.
22.1.1. It is imposed on:
route pollution,
Path cuts
Inappropriate behavior towards the organization's staff,
Loss of athlete number.
22.2 Lifetime exclusion is foreseen in serious cases, such as violence against members of the organization, as well as imputation of fraud for an extremely large shortening of the route.

23. DISCLAIMER:
23.1. The organizers are not responsible for the death, injury or any damage to the health of the competitors, who, by submitting the application for participation, declare that they are aware of the dangers that exist in the mountain environment and certify that their health condition is good and allows them to compete, and have recently been examined by a doctor for this matter. However, no athlete will be asked to provide a medical certificate. The athletes themselves are obliged to undergo a regular medical check-up in order to check their state of health. The organizers disclaim any responsibility regarding the physical integrity of the athletes, who should behave responsibly at points on the course where the risk of falling with unpleasant or fatal results is increased. The organizers disclaim any financial responsibility in case of external assistance to any athlete.
24. AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS:
24.1. The organizers reserve the right to modify the competition regulations without prior notice.
The above regulations apply to all competitions.
